FG Boosts Rural Electricity With New Mini Grid

Effort to decentralize electricity provision, particularly for rural areas, was emphasized by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu. He mentioned that providing accessible power to rural areas is crucial for curbing urban migration and boosting the economy in those regions.

The statement was made during the commissioning of a 352.24Kwp solar hybrid mini-grid in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The project was executed under the Rural Electrification Agency’s Nigerian Electrification Project in collaboration with Powergen and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. The initiative aims to enhance the economic well-being of rural communities through off-grid power solutions.

Adelabu highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing energy costs to alleviate the overall cost of goods in the country.
