AMBO Integrity Group Responds to Omisore Solidarity Movement:

“Abide by the consensus list or step aside.”

The attention of AMBO Integrity Group has been drawn to a recent statement by the Omisore Solidarity Movement urging that Senator Iyiola Omisore be awarded the APC governorship ticket. We wish to make our position clear to party members and the public.

AMBO Integrity Group respects the leadership and processes of our party. We acknowledge Senator Omisore’s historical role in the early days of progressivism in Osun and Nigeria alongside the likes of the late Chief Bola Ige, late Pa Adesanya, Pa Bisi Akande and others. That historical contribution is on the record and is appreciated.

However, after many years in the PDP, during which he served two terms as senator and contested the 2014 governorship under that party, Senator Omisore left the mainstream progressive fold. Having since returned, he is now, for all intents and purposes, a newcomer to the APC’s internal traditions and structures.

It is, therefore, both surprising and insulting that a group aligned with Senator Omisore would publicly suggest that our principal, a successful banker and two-term commissioner, should resume political ambitions at lower legislative levels. Such comments are unacceptable and disrespectful to Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and to established party practice.

The leadership has spoken, and the consensus list stands. We call on Senator Omisore to respect the collective decision of the party leadership and to accept the agreed list. If he is unwilling to comply, he should consider seeking his ambition elsewhere rather than undermining our party. Any further attacks on our principal will be met with equal resolve.

We urge the party leadership to take decisive action to enforce the consensus that was reached in consultation with our leadership, including Pa Bisi Akande, Pa Akinkunmi, and Minister Gboyega Oyetola The unity and traditions of the APC in Osun must be preserved.
