Osun State PDP Elected Hourables Of State And National Assembly’s Stakeholders Meeting
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE STAKEHOLDER’S MEETING OF THE NATIONAL AND STATE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ELECTED ON THE PLATFORM OF PEOPLES’ DEMOCRATIC PARTY FROM OSUN STATE HELD ON SATURDAY, 14TH FEBRUARY 2026 AT LAIM HOTEL, OSOGBO, OSUN STATE
1. That we commend the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his commitment to the welfare of workers and citizens despite the financial challenges arising from the Local Government crisis. His efforts in sustaining Local Government salary payments and continuing development projects across the State demonstrate responsible and compassionate leadership.
2. That having reviewed the performance of the Governor in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability, we unanimously endorse and give our total support to His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for a second term in office in the interest of continuity, stability, and sustained progress for Osun State.
3. That we examined the recent development of our party in the state under the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi. We passed vote of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi, the performing State Working Committee, the leadership of the party in all the 30 Local Government and Area office, and the leadership of the party in all the 332 Wards in the state. We say unequivocally that they remain the executives of the party in Osun State.
4. That, any individual or group parading themselves as alternative leadership does not have the backing of the duly elected National and State Assembly caucus of the party in Osun State and should not be accorded legitimacy.
5. That, the political realignments in the state do not in any way diminish the strength, structure, or grassroots support of the Governor and the PDP in Osun State. The party remains united and firmly established at the National Assembly caucus level, State Assembly level, Executive Council, Local Governments, Wards, and grassroots structures across the State.
6. That the continued unlawful occupation of Local Government secretariats by APC members whose elections were nullified by courts of competent jurisdiction is condemned in its entirety.
7. That the illegal diversion of public funds into private pockets is also condemned by all members present.
8. That the continued withholding of Local Government allocations due to Osun State is causing avoidable hardship for teachers, nurses, healthcare workers, Local Government civil servants, retirees, and traditional institutions at the grassroots. Funds meant for the people must not be politicised or subjected to extraneous interference.
9. That we call on His Excellency, The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to give a directive to the illegal occupants to vacate immediately to avert crises. PDP as a party and the government in the state are law abiding and that is why we have chosen the path of peace and path of law not to throw the state into crises.
10. That we also call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ensure that all federal institutions and agencies act strictly within the confines of the Constitution and pay the Local Governments fund directly into the Local Government accounts opened and operated by the constitutionally mandated people (Career officers) and not political office holders.
11. That, we discovered that the illegal occupation in the Local Governments is been aided unfortunately by police officers who has turned Local Governments in Osun to Police Stations. We therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to direct his officers to go back to their offices and that the Local Governments should be allowed to be occupied by legal people.
12. That we urge the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the Nigeria Police Force remains neutral, professional, and guided solely by the rule of law in handling matters relating to Local Government administration in Osun State.
13. That Local Government administration and the management of Local Government funds must strictly comply with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, subsisting court judgments, and extant laws of Osun State enacted pursuant to Section 7 of the Constitution. No individual, regardless of status or previous office held, has the authority to override court decisions or interfere with Local Government finances.
14. That we reaffirm our collective commitment to constitutional order, legislative oversight, accountability in the management of public funds, and the protection of democratic institutions.
15. We call on the people of Osun State to remain peaceful, law abiding, and steadfast in the defence of democracy and good governance.
Signed,
Sen. Lere Oyewumi,
For and on behalf of PDP National and State Assembly Members,
Osun State.
