YOUR WATERY DEFENCE OF THE POLICE PROVES COLLUSION AGAINST OSUN PEOPLE, PDP FIRES APC
••• MAINTAINS THAT APC OCCUPATION OF COUNCILS ILLEGAL AND AN AFFRONT ON DEMOCRACY
The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tackled the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over the irresponsible defence of the unprofessional conducts of the Nigerian Police during the resumption of members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on Monday January 5, 2025, describing the strenuous efforts put up by the APC to justify the partisan display of the Nigerian Police as a vindication of its position about a collusion against the people of Osun state.
The PDP in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, accused the APC of employing brazen falsehood to sustain its illegal occupation of councils by those already sacked by the courts, warning that the APC desperation and power grab mentality possesses grave threats to the sustenance of democracy.
Hon. Bisi maintained that the idea of reinstatement of APC YES or NO officials was an invention by the party to illegally assume control over the councils and misuse public funds as it is its culture, wondering why the APC has found it difficult to point out the exact area where the order for reinstatement was made by the court in the February 10, 2025 Appeal Court judgement that it has continued to use as the basis for its illegal occupation of councils.
“If anyone is still in doubt, the Osun APC statement should resolve the fact that there is a collusion against the people with the Police as an active acomplice. Otherwise, what would turn a political party into the mouthpiece of an institution as important as the Nigerian Police Force, except that the Osun APC see the need to stand up for its partner in illegality,” Hon. Bisi noted in a statement.
“Contrary to the recycled lies by the APC, no court ordered the reinstatement of the YES or NO officials. Even the February 10, 2025 judgement of the Court of Appeal it usually push as the basis for the illegal occupation of the councils, did not in any part make the pronouncement the APC keep flaunting. If the APC believe otherwise, we challenge them to point out the section of the judgement that categorically ordered the reinstatement of the court-sacked YES or NO officials for the entire world to see.
“What is at play, which the whole world is well aware of, is that the Osun APC is holding on to the councils illegally as part of a broader plot to impose itself on the people without their will. This is why it has continued to hide the truth about the existence of the judgement of the Federal High Court in suit no FHC/OS/CS/103/2022, that sacked the YES or NO officials, which was later affirmed by the Court of Appeal in judgement delivered on January 13, 2025, in appeal no: CA/AK/226M/2024.
“Attempt by the Osun APC to relist this appeal was dismissed in a decision delivered at the Court of Appeal on June 13, 2025, effectively sealing the fate of the YES or NO officials as the appellate court affirmed the February 22, 2025 local government election held by the Osun States Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to fill the vacancies created by the sack of the APC officials by the courts.”
The PDP described as laughable and pure absurdity the ridiculous notion that the Osun APC tried to sell with its destined-to-fail suit to entertain its illusion of tenure extension before the Federal High Court, noting it is against common sense and legal realities for the APC to expect that it can build something on nothing.
“By all indication, the Osun APC interest is never about what is legal or right, but a manifestation of its insidious philosophy of grabbing power by whatever means and running away with it. The suit FHC/OS/CS/147/2025 is a complete waste of time because the local governments election of February 22, 2025 was held in compliance with Electoral Act, 2022 and a valid court order in suit no HIL/M.19/2025,” Hon. Bisi stressed.
“Incidentally, the Osun APC have continued to flout the judgement of the same Federal High Court in suit no FHC/OS/CS/103/2022 that sacked its YES or NO officials, as well as the Court of Appeal decisions in appeal no CA/AK/226M/2024, which affirmed the outcome of the February 22, 2025 local governments election, and in the face of the law, the winners are the legal occupants of the councils. In a matter of days, the contempt suit instituted against them will be decided and the law will hold them to answer for their illegality.”
Hon. Bisi reiterated the resolve of the PDP to continue to explore legal means to confront the illegal acts of the APC and its collaborators, including the Nigerian Police, saying that it owes the Osun people the duty of defending their mandates and ensuring that people after their commonwealth for themselves do not get away with it.

Hon. Sunday Bisi,
Chairman, Osun PDP
