The Accord Party Candidate Responds To On Going Lies About His Candidacy
My attention has been drawn to a publication concerning my candidacy and that of Hon. L&K. While I acknowledge the issues raised, I have deliberately chosen not to make detailed comments at this time. With the election fast approaching, I have no intention of distracting party members or the electorate, nor do I wish to comment extensively on matters that are already before a court of competent jurisdiction.
As the legal maxim states, sub judice matters should be left for judicial determination. Equally, ex nihilo nihil fit—nothing comes from nothing. Every claim must be founded upon facts and supported by credible evidence.
The Electoral Act, 2026 (as amended), recognizes the authority of political parties to nominate their candidates. However, such powers must be exercised within the confines of the law and the party’s constitution. Where consensus is adopted, it must be genuine, transparent, and in accordance with the prescribed procedures. Otherwise, there is a risk that an unpopular candidate may emerge, not through the collective will of party members, but through the influence of a few individuals in leadership.
That, however, is not the situation in my case. A duly conducted election was held, votes were cast, and a winner emerged. The law is clear that ubi jus ibi remedium—where there is a right, there is a remedy. Any grievances arising from the process should therefore be addressed through the lawful channels already provided.
To all my supporters, I sincerely appreciate your steadfast commitment. Let us remain calm, focused, and united as we prepare for August 15. Our priority is the forthcoming election. Thereafter, the appropriate processes will take their course, and the truth will prevail in accordance with the law.
