The Taraba State Government Directs All Public And Private Secondary Schools Operating Boarding Facilities To Deboard Their Students With Immediate Effect

PRESS RELEASE

21st of November, 2025

The Taraba State Government has directed all public and private secondary schools operating boarding facilities to deboard their students with immediate effect.

This decision follows a security review that examined recent attacks on boarding schools in parts of Kebbi and Niger States. The reports placed boarding students among the most vulnerable targets in the current wave of insecurity affecting some parts of the country. After assessing the national climate and the necessity of preventive action, His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, approved a temporary shift from boarding to day-school operations across the state.

The directive takes effect at once and applies to all secondary schools. Principals and proprietors are expected to ensure a smooth deboarding process and to communicate with parents and guardians without delay.

The Government recognizes the inconvenience this measure may create for families, but places higher value on safeguarding students while broader security interventions continue across the country. The Ministry of Information and Re-orientation urges the public to treat this as a protective step taken in the interest of every child in Taraba State.

Further updates will be shared as the security situation evolves.

Signed

Barr Zainab Usman Jalingo

Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation
