Primary Election Violence: Igba-Otun Political Group Mourns the Loss of an Innocent Life
The entire members of the Igba-Otun Political Group , under the leadership of Alhaji Sarafadeen Ajani (Olamummy), extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mrs. Taleatu Simbiat Ajoke of Molare Compound, Iwo, on her painful and untimely passing.
We received with profound sadness the news of her death on 30 May 2026, following the injuries she sustained during the unfortunate violence that occurred at Iwo City Hall on 29 May 2026, during the conduct of the primary election.
According to reports, the venue of the primary election was invaded by armed thugs, allegedly linked to the incumbent Representative of Iwo Federal Constituency, Hon. Mudashiru Lukman Kayode (popularly known as L&K). In the ensuing chaos, gunshots were fired repeatedly, disrupting the electoral process. While attempting to flee for safety, Mrs. Taleatu Simbiat Ajoke sustained severe injuries, which later resulted in her death.
Her demise is a great loss, not only to her immediate family but also to the entire Iwo community. At this moment of deep sorrow, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and share in their grief.
We pray to Almighty Allah to forgives her shortcomings, grants her eternal rest, and admits her into Al-Jannatul Firdaus. We also pray that Allah grants her family, friends, and loved ones the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
The Igba-Otun Political Group strongly condemns all forms of political violence that lead to the loss of innocent lives. We call on all stakeholders to embrace peace, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that democratic processes are conducted without fear, intimidation, or bloodshed.
Once again, please accept our heartfelt condolences. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
