NAFDAC alerts public on ban of popular body creams
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has informed the public about the ban on Sheesha Beauty Cream and Dona White Extra Whitening Lotion by the European Union (EU).
The EU banned these products as they tested against European standards and did not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
The creams were found to contain mercury, which can lead to damage to the kidneys, brain, nervous system, affect reproduction, and harm unborn children.
NAFDAC advised caution, vigilance in the supply chain, and discontinuation of the use and sale of these products.
Healthcare professionals and consumers were encouraged to report any adverse reactions or suspicions to the nearest NAFDAC office.
