Senate nulls privatisation of NIPOST
The Senate has threatened to initiate legislation for the full privatization of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) due to concerns about bloated personnel costs.
The Postmaster General faced criticism during the budget defense, with senators expressing dissatisfaction with NIPOST’s performance. Some senators suggested that the agency needs restructuring and digitalization to become more effective in revenue generation.
The Postmaster General was instructed to submit a business plan outlining how NIPOST plans to generate adequate revenues. The failure to do so could lead to a recommendation for the full privatization of NIPOST.
