Be careful who you raise today, this is the story of kwankwaso and his boy..

In 1992, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso held the position of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Nigeria. During this period, he appointed a 29-year-old young man who had previously worked under him in the Water Resources Department during the 1980s as his Personal Assistant (P.A). In 1999, following Kwankwaso’s governorship election victory in Kano State, he reappointed the young man as his P.A. After Kwankwaso lost his re-election bid in 2003, he was appointed as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence by the Federal Government and took the young man along as his Special Assistant (S.A). Kwankwaso continued to work closely with the young man in subsequent appointments, including his tenure as Special Envoy to Somalia and Darfur in 2007 and as representative of the North-West region under the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2009.

In 2009, Kwankwaso secured a federal appointment for the young man, who was subsequently appointed as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo State. In 2011, Kwankwaso’s return as Governor of Kano State led to the young man’s appointment as Commissioner in one of the major ministries. In 2019, Kwankwaso declared the young man as his candidate for governor under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a decision that led to the loss of some allies and supporters. The election was initially declared in favor of the young man, but it was later announced as inconclusive, and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje retained his seat. In 2023, Kwankwaso once again brought forward the young man as his candidate, this time under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), after leaving the PDP due to a lack of solid political structure.

The young man secured the ticket and eventually became the Governor of Kano State after winning the election. However, within two years of assuming office, the story took an unpleasant turn from the end of 2025 into 2026.
