Two Men of two different characters.

Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola and Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.

They both became governors in my lovely home state. The state of the virtuous OSUN.

Aregbesola fought tooth and nail to become governor in Osun. He contested for the seat in 2007 and he was declared to have lost, yet he didn’t lose faith in all those who casted their votes for him, he went to court so their sacrifices won’t be in vain. The tribunal and appeal went on for three years, I remember going with Alhaji Ibrahim Shittu of blessed memory to a closed door meeting that evening in Ilesa, and as we were driving back home he said now he’s confident this man (Aregbesola) won’t betray us for money. Aregbesola assured them he would die before he withdrew the case from court, simply because people lost their lives protecting those votes and he won’t betray them. Now anyone can argue good governance with me on other issues but no one can reduce my respect for that man who defiled kings and even authorities pleading just to be a loyal leader.

AREGBESOLA NEVER BETRAYED HIS FOLLOWERS, NEVER!!!

During Adeleke’s struggle to become governor, there was no way APC would lose an election immediately as Aregbesola was leaving office in 2018 because despite not getting the kind of funding Adeleke got, Aregbesola managed the little the state had and he sustained the party that he fought to install in Osun. Aregbesola won the election for Oyetola and he allowed the minority and superior interest to prevail just for the party to succeed. He went south on that after it was clear to everyone that Oyetola was going to run the party into chaos and Aregbesola was chased away from the party he fought to build and install, which was an advantage for Adeleke to get an edge over Oyetola in the elections. In 2022, Adeleke ousted APC in Osun and his government and supporters have been frustrated very well in Osun, the local governments have been crippled by the Federal government just to remain relevant in the State.

APC members and leaders had one instruction in 2026 gubernatorial election, WIN OSUN BACK, heavy money was spent, vote buying was explored, other APC candidates on other seats have total confidence in the federal government using INEC for them, what they failed to realize is that election was going to shock them because the voice of the people is the voice of God. That is the reason most of them didn’t anticipate the turn out of civil servants and artisans, yes APC have their candidates but every voter who wasn’t a party member is appealed to support Adeleke’s reelection, and Olódùmarè grant that wish.

Now, immediately after people had died because of your political ambition, days after property was destroyed and livelihood ruined for people just because they supported you, you who had the people’s backing after four years of political molestation and intimidation from the Federal government considered us the Osun people to be fools and brainless, you and those who are behind you, the faceless cabals of Osun government decides to spit on our sacrifices by supporting the Tinubu government. Indeed politics is unpredictable.

I hope you have all you desire because sir, Osun will never forget how you have trampled on our die hard support and danced for the same man we refused his godfatherism.

Asiwaju didn’t win Osun in the last election, for a reason,

there was a time Ribadu contested for president and he only won in Osun out of all the states in Nigeria, that was Osun people making a statement, Mr Governor, our voice and votes may not matter today but WE WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU USED US AND DUMPED US.
